What We Do

We are looking to bring together people of all ages to learn about the beauty behind the antique steam and gas engines.

Our mission is to foster education, promote interest, exchange information, and provide mutual assistance regarding such equipment. To own and display such equipment and to own and operate any needed property, including but not limited to a show-ground, workshops, museum, and library.

The Somerset Steam & Gas Engine Association annually hosts a Somerset Steam & Gas Pasture Party. The Pasture Party displays exhibits of steam boilers and engines, gas engines, tractors, antique and classic cars, demonstrations of threshing and baling, and any other displays or demonstrations that are in keeping with the theme of the event. The Pasture Party is open to the general public. A gate donation is requested to offset costs.

Throughout the year, the Association may, at the discretion of the board of directors, hold seminars, workshops, and/or educational classes for the purpose of instructing the members in the operation, safety, and proper use of tools and equipment; informing and advising members of any new regulations concerning antique equipment; and first aid instruction. There may be a nominal fee levied to attend.

The Association produces an annual newsletter in August, "Pasture Party Press". Members are encouraged to submit articles, especially restoration articles with "before" and "after", photos for publication. The newsletter has a free "Wanted or For Sale" section. Members and non-members may submit items for inclusion in this section.

The editor of the newsletter may be reached by mail SS&GEA,
